Using this classification, along with the following methods, you can easily determine which frame size best suits your preferences and facial structure.

1. Know Your Current Frame Size

If you currently wear glasses, check the inner arm or bridge of your frames for numbers like "52-18-140". Here's what it means:

Lens Width (52): Indicates the width of each lens.
Bridge Size (18): Refers to the distance between the lenses.
Temple Length (140): Measures the length of the temple arm.

2. Measure Frame Width from Front Screw to Screw

To measure the frame width of your existing eyeglasses, locate the screws on the front of the frame near the hinges where the temples connect. Then, use a ruler or measuring tape to measure the distance horizontally between these screws. This measurement represents the width of your frames. Compare this width to our frame categories: narrow (below 130 mm), medium (130 - 140 mm), and wide (above 140 mm). Once you know your frame width, you can easily use our filter section to browse eyeglasses that match your preferred width category.

3. Using Debit/Credit Card

Did you know you could find out your frame size with your debit/credit cards too?

Interestingly, the standard width of the card can be compared to a medium (M) sized frame. Let’s see how.
Place one edge of the card at the center of your nose & if:

The card width extends the tip of the eye; a small frame is what you need.
The other end of the card ends at the tip of your eye; a medium sized frame would fit you right.
If the edge of the card ends before your eye’s tip, you’ll need a (L) large-sized frame.

How to read my prescription

SPH (Sphere)

Spherical error, or the overall lens power, is the basic part of your prescription. You'll notice (+) and (-) signs on your prescription. When there's a (+), it means you have trouble seeing near, and when there's a (-), it means you have trouble seeing far away.

CYL (Cylinder)

The Cylinder value in your prescription indicates astigmatism or perpetually blurry vision. It represents the degree of astigmatism correction required, if any.

Axis

The Axis measurement, typically ranging from 1° to 180°, specifies the orientation or angle at which astigmatism correction is needed. It helps precisely align the astigmatism correction for optimal vision clarity.

ADD (Addition)

The ADD value, sometimes referred to as ADD (Near), is crucial for multifocal lenses like bifocals and progressives. It represents the additional prescription strength necessary for comfortable reading and close-up tasks, allowing you to see clearly at various distances within a single pair of eyeglasses.

Two PD numbers

Pupillary Distance (PD)

PD, or Pupillary Distance, is the measurement between the centers of your pupils. It's essential for ensuring your eyeglass lenses are correctly positioned for clear vision. The distance between your pupils in millimeters. If your prescription does not include a PD, please leave it at 62 for single vision. For progressives/bifocals, please provide the Near PD when applicable, otherwise you can leave it at 59.

Single PD (Monocular PD)

Single PD, also known as Monocular PD, measures the distance between each eye's center and is crucial for single vision prescriptions.

Double PD (Binocular PD)

Single PD, also known as Monocular PD, measures the distance between each eye's center and is crucial for single vision prescriptions.
